BONFIRE EVENT 2007

This event was definitely the busiest bonfire event we have held and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks to Fozzie, Robbo and George for a first class firework display and also to Denise in the galley for superb pie and peas supper ably assisted by Betty. Another thank you to all those of you who contributed to the firework fund, we have already started one for next year when we hope to have a bigger and event more spectacular display.

AUTUMN OPEN DAY 7TH OCTOBER 2007

All I can say is "WHAT A DAY!". Without doubt this was the busiest and best day at the lake since it was first built in 1988. There has never been so many people there or boats on display plus the weather played right into our hands and was glorious. If you didn't make it them you missed a real treat! This event saw the last round of the scale steering and Club 500 racing so all is now over for the season and the Champions will be crowned at the November meeting. The event also featured the launching of Arthur Pickering's P&O Pride of Hull North Sea Ferry which he has scratch built from photographs. Guest of Honour was recently retired Captain Norman Woodhouse from the Pride of Hull. The event was a rip-roaring success and a fitting tribute to the hard work recently undertaken by members in extending the harbour. Check out the photos by clicking on the title of this item.

CLUB SUNDAY 24TH JUNE 2007

It was great to see so many new members enjoying themselves and also quite a few visitors too plus families obviously having fun. OK, so the weather wasn't great but only a couple of short showers did nothing to dampen our spirits and we all had a good day's sailing. Naturally there was the usual Club 500 racing and to check the report and scores you will have to visit the Club 500 pages. In the meantime, enjoy these few photos of the day.

AS SEEN ON TV - April 29th 2007

A disappointing turnout today possibly due to the rather cold and windy start to the day. However, by mid-afternoon the wind subsided and the sun came out giving a great end to the day. As for the scale sailing it was certainly a different departure and more of a challenge than usual. Those competing thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and now that we have 'broken the duck' we may well have a more difficult course 'on TV' later in the year. There were 2 notable clear rounds from Keith Davenport and Dave Markham who have obviously spent far too much time on video games in front of their TV sets!

BLACKPOOL MODEL BOAT SHOW 2006

On Friday Saturday and Sunday October 19/20/21st a group of members attended the Annual Blackpool Model Boat Show and a great time was had by all. Special mention must go to John Gilson who won the rigged sail class with his sloop Lady Mavis and also to Arthur Pickering who picked up 3 trophies with his Lady Moira (tug) and Galatea (fishing boat) both taking first place in their classes and Arthur also collected the Mobile Marine Trophy for Lady Moira. Congratulations guys, you did the club proud.

                    BONFIRE AND FIREWORKS EVENT 2006

Saturday November 4th saw the very last club event of the year at the lake and as usual we had a night sail, bonfire and fabulous firework display. Guy Fawkes was played by John Foster who let his cracker off and was in charge of the fireworks, the wonderful pie, peas and chips supper was provided by Denise and Mike Sheard who said that we consumed 60 pies between us!!  Everyone had a great time and the general consensus was that if you didn't go, then you missed a real treat. Why not come along next year and bring the family or maybe some friends, lots of members did this year.
